Just wanted to say we went along today to buy our annual flat pre-christmas roast and the cost and food were amazing, great quality. It's like Burough market food (maybe better) without the Burough market tourist crowd. One or two stall owners were asking if we felt it was worth them being there etc. so please go along and support them or it will disappear. It is an amazing thing to have on our doorstep and something that makes living in this area so nice.

We were sorry we couldn't get to this Saturday's market. Agree with Slock, it's an amazing thing to have so close. We know some neighbours, now on hols, who say the same so if anyone's talking to the stallholders or anyone connected with it do please say that the likes of us will be back there after Christmas and supporting like mad.

We're fighting a battle with Southwark Council who continue to remove our signs. The market is still going, every Saturday but we're losing producers because of the lack of footfall. If you like the market please do continue to support it. If you'd like to receive occasional updates send us an email to info@lfm.org.uk

many thanks,

Dunno if it'll help but I've written to Tim McNally (TimMcNally@southwark.gov.uk) saying the market's a valued resource and asking if he'd look into this. I'll post his response here.

Many thanks for that - I've emailed him the details directly

Found this prompt response from Tim McNally when I got in this evening (pasted below). Have thanked him and directed him to Cheryl's posting on this site. Since you've got onto him too, Cheryl, it'll be good to see the outcome. Hope it's positive.

Dear Felicity

I’m very supportive of the market, and hadn’t heard of concerns regarding the signs – who could give me further details?

Tim

Had this (pasted below) from Tim McNally this morning. He's obviously now up to speed on the farmers' market's problems with the council re. signs. Good to have his support. Hope it'll help the stallholders.

Hi Felicity
